“Be strong and courageous!” (Part 17)

I was wondering how the Laodicean church had all their church activity and religious practices going on inside, when Jesus was outside knocking at the door.

He said in Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

I think many of the churches today may not allow people like Paul and Peter to come and preach because they were so anointed.

Jesus had the same problem.

Let's go to the book of Luke, chapter 4, and verse 16.
"And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was (that was the practice he had), he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read."

Jesus had a practice of going to the synagogue.

It's good for us to come to church to encourage one another, and also to be encouraged.

And we find here that when Jesus preached and just read a scripture, the people were amazed at the gracious words coming out of His mouth.

And all of a sudden they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"

They started saying, "We know this man."

I mean, you have to be somebody's son. You can't just be anybody.

You cannot fall down from heaven and say, "I am a preacher."

You have to be somebody's son.
