WHAT IS WATER BAPTISM ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE?
The Greek meaning of the word "baptism " is "to bury.’ When you are baptized in water you are buried with Christ and when you are raised from the waters you become a new creation with a new life in Christ.
As a new creation in Christ, you no longer need to be under the control of the old person you used to be. The scriptures put it this way - you are ‘dead to sin.’ Just as a dead person no longer has any motion, the old person you used to be before Christ does not have to control your life.
Water Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change. This is an important step that every believer ought to take.

16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Acts 8:36-38
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
