LIGHT IN THE MIDST OF DARKNESS

Being a Christian is the most exciting life a person can live!

This is true because when we accept Christ, He fills the void inside our hearts and gives us a sense of purpose for living on the earth.

The Bible says in John 1:12: But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the SONS OF GOD, even to them that BELIEVE on His name.

We need to realise that we are SONS of GOD and not sinners anymore!
Religion tells us that we are still filthy sinners and that God loves us only if we live perfect before His sight. That is a lie!

You can never have a relationship with God believing that lie because you'll always live in guilt and condemnation.

Romans 8:1 tells us that there is NO CONDEMNATION to those who are in Christ Jesus.

The blood of Christ has already cleansed us from sin and made us RIGHTEOUS before God's sight.
So if we sin, we can make it right with God by asking Him to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We see this in 1 John 1:7: But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Notice the word "fellowship". This word also means "companionship".
To have fellowship with God is just like having a friend beside you. Sometimes there may be issues amongst each other but that shouldn't hinder the friendship.
Instead, when those issues are sorted out, it makes that friendship grow stronger and closer. This is the same with God.
There could be times where you know God is correcting you in some area of your life. He does it because He loves you and doesn't want anything to be a hinderance in your life.

So as children of God, how can we represent Jesus to the world? Well, the first thing we need to know is that we cannot do it in our own strength.
It has to be the Holy Spirit guiding and leading us to be effective witnesses for Christ.

The world is in darkness because they are blinded by Satan. Therefore when they see us, they should be able to see a difference through our words and actions.
Even Satan will know who you are and flee in terror!

You are a light shining in the midst of darkness! God's glory is upon your life!

He doesn't want you to just keep living an ordinary life; you've been created to reveal His glory to all those around you.

Believing in Jesus is the first step. From there onwards we've got to manifest His love to the world.
For instance, you might know of people who are sick and in need of healing. There may be others who are broken hearted and need to be ministered to.

Jesus spoke about this in Mark chapter 16:17-18

17  And these signs shall follow THEM THAT BELIEVE; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18: They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

If you're a born again believer, then you have the power to do the same works that Jesus did!
It's not only limited to the preacher but to all those who have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior!

The love that you have for Jesus will be seen by many and it will create a hunger and thirst in their hearts to come to the light.
You can refer this scripture in Isaiah 60:1-5.

So remember, it all starts when you know who you are in Christ.
Don't belittle yourself! You are a child of the King and have been given a purpose to live on this earth and that is to shine forth His light in the midst of darkness!
