THE NUMBER ONE WAY TO RESIST THE DEVIL
The Word tells us that we are in a battle!
Jesus Himself, the Head of the Church, teaches us how we should resist the devil in every form he comes against us.
God also says in the Bible through Paul that you must know who your enemy is, and put on the whole armour of God so that you might be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11-18)
Once we as children of God receive the Holy Spirit, we receive supernatural power into our lives. That power enables us to do the same works that Jesus did when He was on the earth.
Now just because we are born again, it doesn't mean we won't face opposition from Satan. In fact, when we look at the life of Jesus, we see that He faced many oppositions throughout His ministry yet He overcame every one of them victoriously.
Let's take a look at the scriptures and see how we too can live this victorious life.
In the book of Matthew 4, Jesus gives us the perfect way to resist the devil.
Verse 3 says: And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If you be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
Now if you read the next couple of verses as well, you'll notice that Satan uses the word "IF" constantly to cause Jesus to doubt and make Him believe his lies.
Doubt is one of Satan's greatest tools he uses to deceive a child of God. For instance, he may have put thoughts into your mind such as, "What if you don't get healed?"
He can also try to confuse and mess up your mind during times of pressure causing you to lose your joy and make you focus on the circumstances.
So in times like these, how are we supposed to resist him? Well, let's go back to Matthew 4 and see what Jesus did to those thoughts.
Verse 4: But He (Jesus) answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
"IT IS WRITTEN!" Now that's your answer for the rest of your life.
Jesus used THE WORD to counteract those negative thoughts of doubt and unbelief. Sure enough, that devil had to leave because of the power of Jesus' words.
Having the word of God in your heart is one thing, but speaking it out of your mouth makes a huge difference. That's what Satan is afraid of!
Hebrews 10:23 says: Let us hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;)
So if it's a need for healing, speak out Isaiah 53:5: "By His stripes I am healed."
During those times of pressure, begin to declare, "I've got the joy of the Lord and I won't accept confusion. No pressure can put confusion on me. My mind belongs to God in Jesus' name!"
